Assistant Director For After School Program

    Job Description - Assistant Director PS29 Assist the Director in all aspects of programming offered by the after school program. Reporting to the Director of After School Programming.

    Summary of Position: The PS29 Plus Assistant Director is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of After School Programming. This will include clerical and administrative duties as well as on-site coverage. The Assistant director will work in person for 20 hours per week.

    Summary of Program: The PS29 Plus After School Program consists of a supervised after care program called Kids Club and a catalog of specialty courses including athletics, theater, and arts and crafts. On average we have approximately 300 kids a day in our programs.

    The duties of the Assistant Director include:

    Enrollment & Maintenance of Rosters, Class Lists & Databases: creating student rosters and contact lists; maintaining online database; facilitating enrollment/registration process. Jack Rabbit & PS29 Plus Website maintenance.

    On-Site Student and Parent Engagement: support staff with any student issues that arise (behavior; illness, etc.); provide notification/feedback to parents on any escalated student issues; answer parent questions regarding enrollment, pick-up arrangements and other policies.

    • Actively oversee students and staff through rotating onsite schedule each day
    • Handle day-to-day problems/issues: behavior, sick students, staff, family questions
    • Provide feedback to teachers and staff as needed; immediately address issues and coach for desired behavior
    • Maintain/organize supplies
    • Monday-Friday (school days), email support

    Support Vendor & HR Processes: Organize and prepare vendor toolkit, contracts and feedback forms for Director. Organize and support Director in the HR process for new hires.

    Skills Required:

    • Must be comfortable and willing to work after-school hours
    • Google Spreadsheets, excel and word processing skills are a must.
    • Prior experience with Jack Rabbit software helpful but not required.
    • Experience working with children in a school or daycare setting
    • Strong organizational, planning, leadership, writing and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively
    • Ability to work with a high-performing, mission-driven staff
    • Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player

    Hours: This is a 12 month of the year position. The assistant and the Director will collaborate on what the best hours are for the program. Will include 20 hours of on-site work between 1:30-6pm on school days and remote work during holidays and summer. Some additional hours working remotely may be required during the 3 registrations period of the year.

    COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience. part-time position 20-25 hours per week, Salary range $25,000 per year and up.
