Job Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator directs the volunteer program at Project R.E.S.T., including recruitment, intake, training, supervision, scheduling, and support of volunteers, with an emphasis on trauma informed advocacy. As part of the Community Services Team, the VC engages with internal and external stakeholders to advance the agency mission through volunteerism. The VC embodies Project R.E.S.T.'s core values -- excellence, compassion, integrity, collaboration, and equity -- and models these qualities.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers to assist in achieving Project R.E.S.T. mission and objectives in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties.
- Facilitate multiple volunteer trainings per year, including training development, coordination, and implementation in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Work with team to streamline volunteer engagement on web-based platforms to maximize efficiency of volunteer coordination and management.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate volunteer projects.
- Track/document volunteer service and training in accordance with grant funding requirements.
Job Duties:
- Facilitate volunteer application process, maintain accurate volunteer files, secure background checks on volunteers.
- Collaborate with volunteers to identify best-fit role(s), based on their goals, strengths, interests, availability, etc., as align with fulfilling agency needs.
- Complete monthly reports and provide regular updates on volunteer activities.
- Maintain and update training materials as needed, including print, video and online.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and execute community education through social media, health fairs, community events, speaking engagements, and workshops.
- Assist with special events, i.e. Auction-for-a-Cause, Christmas Shop, and others.
- Coordinate with team leaders and other staff to schedule volunteers for special events, such as DV and SA Awareness Month Activities and others.
- Nurture reciprocal relationships with community partners from various sectors, strategically leverage connections for increased cross-agency collaboration and mutual support.
- Attend community meetings and participate as a representative of Project R.E.S.T., exuding a gracious, professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize United Way of the Piedmont’s Get Connected website and other platforms to announce volunteer opportunities.
- Provide direct services to victims, primarily through service on the crisis line. Assist staff advocates as needed with case management, safety planning, victim assessment.
- Serve on crisis line during office hours as assigned.
- Serve as crisis line staff backup during non-office hours as assigned.
- Input call reports, and make appropriate internal/external referrals in a timely manner.
- Protect the confidentiality of clients and location of emergency shelter at all times.
- Engage in continued professional development through workshops, webinars, networking, researching, and assimilating best practices.
- Attend staff and team meetings as scheduled.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience with web-based CRM software, Adobe Pro, Moodle, Canva, Signup Genius, Signeasy, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Sharepoint preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, answer phone, use standard office equipment.
- Must be physically able to assist with receiving community donations.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience working in a non-profit setting preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience managing volunteers/employees

Pay: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
