Responsibilities: Manage the Construction Engineering function, plan and execute projects; Review and understand contract, managing changes and other contract issues throughout the life of a project; Maintain strong customer relationship; Confer with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority; Direct and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget; Review status reports for managements, client, and others; Provide oversight of construction design, specifications, planning, and recommending actions, utilizing AutoCAD and technical drawings; Coordinate projects activities with Sterling personnel and joint venture partners; Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the project; including safety, performance, budget, scheduling utilizing Primavera P6, equipment management and quality; Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; Work with and be part of the estimating departments during project procurement phases utilizing HeavyBid; Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate and project management; Understand Subcontract, Work Order, Formal PO; Budget Preparation and Management; Manage Project Controls; and Travel to Long Beach, CA for company training 1-2 annually (4 days each trip).
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering or foreign degree equivalent degree, plus 5 years post-bachelor progressively responsible experience in construction industry; or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering or foreign degree equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in construction industry. Experience must include: planning and overseeing construction of heavy industrial projects, such as power plants, heavy process facilities, and steel/aluminum manufacturing; estimating quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor of heavy industrial construction projects; and working with Primavera P6 and AutoCAD.
