Establishes data collection and reporting processes to capture key metrics of project activities and to provide periodic reporting. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a project management certification. Typically reports to a director. The Project Management Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Project Management Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Our Allworld Project Management (AWPM) Geographic Information Systems Department is looking to fill a trainee position for Spring Semester 2025. 

    Position Summary: 

    A Trainee is a part-time employee working directly under a project coordinator. The trainee must provide a flexible schedule and willingness to learn new skills in the event they may be tasked with a variety of jobs. This position shall provide the trainee with real-world experience along with multiple skills to progress in their field of study. This position is part of a GIS team that conducts QC on stormwater lines and points as part of the MSQ2 program.  We examine each stormwater point asset (manholes, inlets, etc..) and line assets (pipes, ditches, etc...) and ensure that they are correct and connected to the stormwater network.  We check attributes to ensure the field crews entered the proper connections, pipe size, diameter, etc.  Additionally, we correct any errors that field workers failed to catch. Finally, we have other tasks such as giving unique IDs to the lines and points & other requests from the engineering department.  This position requires the employee to be very meticulous in checking each asset and it requires a high level of organization as we record all changes into documents in case they need to be examined or reverted at a later date.  Also, it would be highly beneficial, but not required, if the student is able to read construction, site, and drainage plans as we often need to refer to construction documents to verify the asset layout is correct.

    Pay: $20.00

    Essential Functions:  

    • Provides on-site digital mapping support to clients. 
    • Troubleshoots various data conversion and ETL processes. 
    • Creates and manages static as well as dynamically updated maps. 
    • Edits data in a variety of GIS formats (open source to Esri SDE).  
    • Completes maintenance and update changes to datasets in enterprise databases. 
    • Coordinates with team members and clients to fulfill project goals. 
    • Performs related duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications: 

    •  We are seeking candidates that are pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.    Must be enrolled and actively pursuing college or university accredited degree program and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5; recommended majors include and not limited to Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, or other related field of study.
    • Candidates should possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, a drive for operational excellence and a commitment to achieving sustainable results.
    • Additionally, candidates should hold strong academic and technical skills in Microsoft Office as well as show proficiencies in leadership, teamwork, problem solving and analytical skills, verbal and written communication and professionalism.
    • Desire to work in project management and to learn about the project management industry. 
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement.
    • Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in a team environment.
    • Able to take direction, learn and process information quickly, follow tasks through to completion.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Flexible to work standard business hours as determined by assignment.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. 
    • Organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. 
    • Reliable with patience and professionalism. 
    • Self-motivated and takes initiative. 

     Skills Desired: 

    • Demonstrates strong computer skills, with advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Pro is preferred 
    • Expectational written and oral communication skills 
    • Detail-oriented  

    TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer, telephone, copier, and calculator. Requires the ability to lift and carry objects such as boxes of paper weighing up to 15 lbs.

    TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
