Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Agri-business Underwriting Specialist is a hybrid eligible position from our Roseville, CA, Reno, NV, or Monterey, CA offices. Hybrid schedules are 3 days in office, and 2 days from home.
Job Overview
This position operates as technical underwriter specialist and is responsible for the evaluation of small to middle market risks within a defined business territory. Under general supervision, this position reviews individual submissions for agri-business lines of insurance to evaluate risk attributes, pricing, and business fit within Company guidelines and policies. This position is responsible for building strong agency relationships to develop new business opportunities, retain a strong renewal book of business and manage the overall book to profitability metrics. The Underwriting Specialist will typically work with top or middle tier agents as well as evaluate more complex and sophisticated commercial risks within the region. The specialist is expected to make production calls and develop new business production. This assignment must adhere to underwriting guidelines for service and authority. This assignment may be directed to perform other underwriting duties including quality control, mentoring, territory analysis, and agency training.

Salary Range: $75,902 - $125,239
