Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups, such as accident insurance, crime insurance, loss of property insurance etc. Implements guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Leads and trains the underwriters to ensure integrity of property and casualty underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager experienced in risk management and complex applications. Provides consultative support for large accounts. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Reports to the Director of Property Management
    • Ensures day-to-day facility, lease administration, and financial operations to an assigned portfolio
    • Utilize Yardi software to enter leases, send invoices, create work orders, maintain tenant contact information, lease file administration, CPI adjustments, etc.
    • Prepares annual budgets, daily approval of invoices based on budget, bill backs to tenants for tenant incurred expenses, CAM billing, including real estate taxes and insurance, and collection of delinquent payments, including obtaining legal advice and filing lawsuits
    • Reviews year-end settlements, and monthly financial statements, and prepares variance reports
    • Performs weekly site inspections, bi-monthly vacant inspections, monthly nightly light checks, inspects contracted work, and handles maintenance/tenants' calls
    • Arrange and administer contracts and inspections for seasonal HVAC, fire systems, sprinklers, fire panels, fire extinguishers, emergency systems, elevator maintenance, roof, snow removal, landscaping, cleaning, and parking lot maintenance.
    • Organizes and contracts spring start-up/winterization of vacant properties, lawn irrigation systems, and cooling towers
    • Manages construction projects to completion, which can include preparing specifications, soliciting bids, selecting bidders, and selecting wall/floor finishes
    • Schedule Daylight Saving Time adjustments for lighting and card access systems.
    • Coordinate property insurance with property owners and file incident reports to the insurance agent
    • Develop tenant relationships, including tenant meetings (as needed), move-out documents, and final inspections
    • Collaborate, brainstorm, & bring innovative ideas to the team
    • Performs a variety of necessary administrative tasks, including drafting letters, contracts, spreadsheets, and other various special projects as needed.
    • Ability to work closely with the accounting team.
    • On-call 24/7 and provide back-up for other Property Managers

    Requirements:

    • Strong organizational skills, keeping track of many ongoing projects, and managing project deadlines.
    • Communicate effectively and promptly, both written and verbal, to team members, service providers, tenants, and owners in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Highly motivated and able to work both independently and with a team.
    • Excellent critical thinking, critical thinking skills, and negotiation skills.
    • Resourceful and works well on a tight deadline while maintaining a “can-do” & “I’ll find a way” positive attitude.
    • Friendly, energetic, with great people skills.
    • Previous knowledge of commercial property management and leasing.
    • Understanding of property regulations, marketing, and accounting principles
    • Indiana Real Estate Broker license preferred or may be obtained 6 months after hire date

    Programs:

    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
    • Yardi – greatly preferred

    Job Type: Full-time
    Office Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (M-Th) and 8:00 a.m.-
    3:00 p.m. (Friday)

    This is an in-office position and the applicant must have dependable transportation to drive properties, etc.

    Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with experience
