Minimum Qualifications :
BS or BA Degree
Endorsement in at least one : Cognitive Impairment (SC), Emotional Impairment (SE),
Learning Disabilities (SM) or Autism (SV), Early Childhood (ZS)
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Must be Highly Qualified

Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to model instructional and behavioral strategies for students and teachers along with
evidence
Knowledge of elementary core content standards and instructional strategies
Fluent in the administration of a variety of assessments
Preferred experience with PBIS in an MTSS model at the classroom and building level
Ability to collaborate with the building principal and staff to provide leadership of behavioral
strategies
Flexibility to meet the needs of students and staff
General Description of Responsibilities :
Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment
Employ special education strategies and techniques during instruction to help students achieve
their IEP goals
Evaluate student progress based on work output and observation.
Meet with parents to discuss their child’s progress and determine priorities for their child’s
academic / behavior / social needs
Confer with all necessary stakeholders to develop an individualized education program (IEP) to
advance student’s needs
Maintain accurate educational records in accordance with law, district policy, and administrative
requests
Provide direct intervention / or support in instructional settings
Be a contributing positive team member
