Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. The Psychiatrist coordinates decision-making processes in assessing, diagnosing, and managing the medication of psychiatric patients. Working collaboratively with a diverse team, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, therapists, and educators, the Psychiatrist conducts clinical assessments and crafts treatment plans to ensure safe, therapeutic, and competent patient care.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:
Education & Licensure: MD/DO Degree from an Accredited University. Physician licensed to practice under Chapter 18.71 RCW, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting
Additional Prerequisites: CPR Certification. Completion of CPI training within 30 days of employment
