Ready to make a difference? Meruelo Enterprises is looking for an experienced, passionate and creative Communications and Public Relations Specialist to join our team. This self-motivated individual will be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategy, writing and publishing press releases and articles, and building a highly engaged online community of brand advocates both internally and externally within Meruelo Group. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, the Communications and Public Relations Specialist will maintain day-to-day activity across all social channels and across several personas, coordinate and plan our special events calendar, and publish and communicate articles on Meruelo Group community and business development events.

Job Focus

·    Developing marketing content such as the quarterly newsletter across all six subsidiaries, blogs, promotional materials, and advertisements for social media.

·    Responsible for managing social media accounts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook for all six subsidiaries.

·     Creating company manuals, mission statements, website, quarterly newsletters, and other essential internal and external marketing materials.

·    Creating sales ads when required.

·    Managing and updating MEI budget sheets, quarterly events and guest lists for major promotional events.

·    Creating Powerpoint presentations and agendas for VP of BD’s meetings with other company executives and conferences.

·    Undertake and monitor research to provide highly needed support for the business development team.

·    Identify and communicate with new business leads for the organization.

·    Consolidate, analyze, and summarize expenses to maintain an accurate record of sales expenditure.

·    Weekly communication with subsidiaries and sister companies for updates to complete internal newsletters and optimize social media presence.

·     Planning, coordinating and professionally representing MEI and our clients at promotional events.

·    Interacting with event attendees and the public at promotional events.

·    Coordinating and managing sponsorships and sponsorship activation, including creating and assisting with hotel vouchers for GSR and Sahara resorts.

·    Manage the preparation for events.

·    Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all departments.

·    Coordinating with the Purchasing Department to fill purchase requisition forms for all company needs including company swag, merch, and supplies.

·    Helping with completion and editing of construction department's RFP's before submission deadline.

·    Partnering with the corporate HR department on special events and internal written communications.

·    Collaborate with sister companies on promotional events as needed. 

Desired Qualifications

·    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or Communication, or three to five years of relevant experience

·    Minimum three years of proven professional experience in building, engaging, and connecting with audiences across multiple channels, as well as possess the ability to interpret analytics, communicate results and formulate strategy using actionable data.

·    Strong familiarity with building, managing, optimizing, and executing high converting paid social media campaigns.

·    Self-starter with excellent project management skills, including schedule development, tracking, task prioritization, and an ability to meet tight deadlines.

·    Experience creating effective storylines, shooting, and/or editing videos for social a plus.

·    Familiarity with photo editing software and with basic graphic design and tools a plus

·    Demonstrate unique creativity and documented immersion in social media.

·    Knowledge of blogging and influencer ecosystem

·    Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side.

·    In-depth knowledge of online reputation management

·    Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary.

·    Maintain a positive, upbeat, and approachable attitude online and offline.

·    Demonstrated problem solver with highly developed interpersonal skills in working with a variety of people and settings.

·    Collaborative, creative, takes initiative, and great with follow-through.
