Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Position Summary
Gill St. Bernard’s School is searching for a dynamic and experienced full time Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, experienced with curriculum development, committed to student-centered pedagogy, and eager to collaborate with colleagues. The Upper School World Language department seeks candidates who have taught across the spectrum of Spanish courses (Level 1 through AP Spanish Language) and whose teaching philosophy and practices are consistent with total language immersion. Native or near-native proficiency is required for this position.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
5 years of experience teaching at the Upper School level
Experience teaching at the AP, IB, or Honors level; native or near-native fluency in Spanish
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the secondary level
Experience instructing a diverse student population
Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and full commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
Willingness to broaden facility with classroom technology
Enthusiasm for ongoing professional growth and membership in a community of learners
Ability to work with students in-person or virtually, as determined by the School
