Quality Assurance Engineer jobs in Ellicott City, MD

This is a challenging and rewarding position with a mission to support the manufacturing of air and space-based RF systems in our Rapid Solutions Manufacturing Group of Jacobs.  This opportunity involves working closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to build prototypes, support New Product Integration (NPI) and productions builds.

• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and acceptance criteria for Aerospace components such as cable harness, mechanical assembly, printed circuit board assemblies and soldering.
• Experience with hands-on inspection of electronic components, printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies supporting Jacobs internal Surface Mount Assembly Lab
• Review Engineering documentation and generate process flow charts, manufacturing travelers, and work instructions.
• Provide direct Quality Assurance oversight for product conformity and establish metrics reporting structures.
• Provides mentorship and training to personnel in support of new processes and use of equipment.
• Ability to drive Root Cause and Corrective Action quality closure.
• Must be hands on with prototype and new product/process introduction builds.
• Works closely with SMT Operations Management to maintain project schedules.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or 10 years of Electronics Manufacturing Quality Assurance experience.
• Experience generating process documentation and operating procedures in an AS9100 environment.
• Certification to the relevant workmanship standards\:
  • IPC-A- 610 preferred
  • J-STD-001 w/space addendum preferred
  • NASA-STD-8739.1
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Preferred\: 

• Ability to capture as built configurations of products with material certs/C of C’s to create End Item Data Package.
• Previous work experience in a Quality Assurance role in support of FAA programs. Understanding and knowledge of
• FAA requirements/orders.
• FAA certification of, “Issuance of 8130-3 for Domestic and Export Approvals of Engines, Propellers, & Articles Only”.
• Monitor process yields, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics. Identifying solutions to manufacturing problems related to materials, design, and equipment.
• Experience on creating AOI and SPI programs for new products.
• Have knowledge automated inspection programs for the X-ray machines.
• Ability to tailor level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.
• Works independently with limited supervision.
