Salary Range
Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, Grade 10, exempt, $76,020.39 - $106,428.53 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.
Principal Quality Assurance Engineer, Grade 12, exempt, $87,035.75 - $121,850.05 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you are responsible for the development, and execution of IT quality assurance processes and testing to ensure the quality of our software applications and systems.
OR; As a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer, you are responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of IT quality assurance processes and testing to ensure the quality of our software applications and systems.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Project lifecycle testing and delivery
- Develop and execute test strategies and test plans for medium or large projects, agile teams, and production releases across a portfolio of applications.
- Document effort estimation, resource planning, and risk management.
- Responsible for the successful execution of functional, performance, and regression testing, including manual and automated testing, with additional focus on integration and application security testing as needed.
- Guide development teams and business stakeholders to ensure that software applications and systems are designed and developed with quality in mind.
- Participate in software design and requirements reviews to ensure that quality requirements are properly defined and documented.
- Modify and execute automated test cases and review and diagnose failures.
- Document and triage defects.
- Collaborate with product owners and customers to ensure requirements are met and determine release readiness.
- Evaluate system performance and suggest improvements.
- Ensure the successful deployment of applications into the production environment.
- Mentors less experienced quality assurance engineers.
- Documentation and communication
- Maintain quality assurance process and testing documentation..
- Establish and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of the software testing and quality assurance processes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Continuous improvement
- Provide input on quality assurance process improvement opportunities to optimize time and efficiency of quality assurance activities.
- Stays informed and educated on changing technologies, frameworks, and quality assurance best practices.
- Maintain quality assurance software tool standards to manage automated test cases.
- Participate in releases and support as necessary, including outside of traditional work hours.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of four years’ software testing experience. (i.e. test case creation, test approach and strategy, automated and manual test execution, test reporting, defect management) OR
- A combination of IT related post-secondary and/or professional education and demonstrated relevant work experience in software testing (i.e. test case creation, test approach and strategy, automated and manual test execution, test reporting, defect management) equivalent to a total of eight years.
- Four years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile, waterfall, etc.
- Two years’ experience with some of the following project management/development team tools: Azure DevOps, Smartsheets, and JIRA.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
- Strong business process/operational knowledge (e.g., customer service, inventory management, procurement, accounting)
In addition to the above, the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of ten years of software testing experience. (i.e. test case creation, test approach and strategy, automated and manual test execution, test reporting, defect management)
- A combination of IT related post-secondary and/or professional education and demonstrated relevant work experience in software testing (i.e. test case creation, test approach and strategy, automated and manual test execution, test reporting, defect management) equivalent to a total of fourteen years.
- Ten years’ experience with various software development approaches: agile, waterfall, etc.
- Five years’ experience with some of the following project management/development team tools: Azure DevOps, Smartsheets, and JIRA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field and eight years’ experience in quality assurance.
- Six years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile, waterfall, etc.
- Four years’ experience with some of the following project management/development team tools: Azure DevOps, Smartsheets, and JIRA.
- Two years’ experience in quality assurance automation.
- Experience testing Salesforce and Workday integrations.
In addition to the above, the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s Degree in information technology or related field and fourteen years’ experience in quality assurance.
- Twelve years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile and waterfall.
- Seven years’ experience with some of the following project management/development team tools: Azure DevOps, Smartsheets, and JIRA.
- Five years’ experience in quality assurance automation.
