  • NCP, Inc.
  • Des Moines, IA FULL_TIME
  • NCP, a Des Moines-based investment banking firm, is seeking a full-time analyst to aid the company’s growth. Our firm provides a full array of financial advisory services to companies, financial sponsors, and institutional investors. The firm works with its clients to identify compelling opportunities and execute diverse and innovative transactions. Since being established as a fully independent firm in 2006, NCP has successfully executed over $2 billion in transaction values as lead advisor.

NCP is unique in that we work with companies in a variety of industries and mandates, assisting clients throughout their organization’s lifecycle. The majority of NCP’s sell-side M&A clients are family-owned businesses that are seeking an exit for succession planning purposes. In addition, the firm works with a number of middle-market companies throughout the United States as a buy-side advisor to boost their growth prospects. NCP’s capital advisory efforts specialize in minority investments in companies that are seeking growth capital, governance expertise and/or diversification of their own risk profile. More information about our scope of services and transaction experience can be found at www.ncpinconline.com.

    Responsibilities

The analyst role provides support in the execution of buy and sell-side M&A transactions, capital advisory opportunities, and corporate finance assignments. The role will also include providing support to the firm’s principals in client acquisition and idea generation. Specifically, tasks will include:

    • Developing valuation analysis and financial models, including detailed income statement forecasting and scenario analysis, balance sheet and capital structure modeling, and M&A modeling
    • Researching and analyzing industry data, potential M&A targets, and company financial statements
    • Organizing, reviewing, and analyzing due diligence processes and materials
    • Developing presentations and proposal decks with detailed findings for pitches and marketing materials
    • Assessing acquisition target metrics including, but not limited to, financial performance and operational fit
    • Support the preparation of detailed memoranda and presentations describing the key attributes of client companies and the firm’s engagements/opportunities
    • Conduct due diligence investigations of client companies and research potential investors for the firm’s various opportunities.
    • Participate in various marketing and business development activities of the firm

    Required Skills

    • Basic understanding of corporate finance, especially valuation of public and private companies, including compilation, analysis and interpretation, cash flow and return analysis, and fundamental business accounting standards.
    • Upper-level Accounting and/or Finance coursework required
    • 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis, investment banking, commercial banking, public accounting, and/or management consulting (or related). CFA or CPA candidacy/certification encouraged.
    • Proven proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
    • Team player, self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision at times
    • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to perform under deadline pressure
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook
    • Strong data management and research skills
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • We take a team-oriented approach to investment banking, and therefore, team chemistry is a primary focus in the hiring process.

    Why You Should Apply

NCP is an entrepreneurial company, with little hierarchy that will allow the ideal candidate to build on their existing expertise in a client-centered setting with the opportunity for significant participation in the firm’s success. Specifically, we offer:

    Opportunity for accelerated professional growth

As an integral member of the NCP team, the candidate will actively participate in all aspects of the business, starting with the idea generation through transaction execution and relationship management. The size of the NCP team precludes most hierarchy or rigid role designation. In addition, this organizational structure allows for every member of the NCP team to connect with the firm’s proprietary network of business owners, executives, and service providers. The ideal candidate needs to be a well-rounded individual, capable of holding their own in client-driven and firm-specific situations.

Work and train directly with seasoned investment bankers

The principals at NCP have had successful careers at nationally recognized financial institutions before starting NCP over 15 years ago. We maintain deep expertise in virtually all areas of corporate finance and have advised clients in many industries. Working with the NCP team will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to train and build on their investment banking expertise in client-focused situations. There are no layers upon layers of associates, senior associates, VPs, directors, MDs, and senior managing directors to contend with. You have immediate access to the transaction, senior deal team members, and the client(s). As you deliver results, you will be encouraged to take on more responsibility.

Opportunity to participate in the economic upside of the firm

NCP’s business model is success-driven. Competitive starting base salary is provided based on qualifications, and additional earning opportunity lies in the success of the company and everyone’s contribution to such success. NCP is committed to providing economic participation in the upside of the firm to all its team members, commensurate with their contribution to that growth.

    Compelling Culture

NCP offers the opportunity to be an investment banker without the tedium and inefficiency of many larger firms. With a small team and relatively flat management structure, individuals can experience learning opportunities in all facets of the business and identify what is of particular interest to them. Our firm has a flexible work environment, and strongly encourage community involvement, networking, and pursuit of personal interests and passions so all team members can embrace a healthy work-life balance.
