O'Malley Ice LLC operates at the Sullivan Arena, a high-profile venue that hosts a variety of events, from hockey games to concerts, community events, and more. As a key member of the O'Malley Ice team, the Custodial Manager plays a vital role in supporting these efforts by overseeing and leading the custodial team responsible for the arena’s cleanliness and upkeep.
Position Overview:
The Custodial Manager for O'Malley Ice LLC at the Sullivan Arena will be responsible for managing the custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of all areas within the arena, including public spaces, event areas, locker rooms, offices, and back-of-house facilities. This role is crucial for creating a welcoming environment for patrons and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for all arena activities. The Custodial Manager will work closely with the Facilities and Operations teams to maintain the arena's high standards of cleanliness and hygiene while meeting the dynamic needs of event-driven operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision:

Oversee, lead, and manage a team of custodial staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance.

Foster a positive and efficient team environment with a focus on communication, teamwork, and accountability.

Conduct regular training on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and proper equipment usage to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

Develop, implement, and maintain cleaning schedules for all arena areas, including restrooms, seating areas, locker rooms, offices, and concession stands.

Ensure post-event cleaning and turnaround processes are executed efficiently, ensuring all spaces are clean and ready for the next event or public use.

Oversee specialized cleaning tasks, including floor care, window cleaning, trash removal, and high-touch surface sanitization.

Manage day-to-day maintenance of custodial equipment, ensuring that all tools and machines are in good working order.
Event-Specific Cleaning & Coordination:

Work with event management and operations teams to prepare for and accommodate the specific cleaning needs of events, such as concerts, sports games, or community gatherings.

Ensure quick and thorough cleaning of public spaces between events, maintaining a high level of cleanliness for guests and participants.

Be available for pre-event and post-event cleaning as needed, ensuring a smooth turnover between events.
Collaboration with Other Departments:

Work closely with the Facilities Manager and other departments, including Operations, Security, and Event Staff, to address any custodial needs or challenges during events.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless experience for staff and visitors, particularly during high-traffic periods or large events.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in facilities management or related field is a plus.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in custodial services, facilities management, or a similar field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Previous experience in an arena, event venue, or public space is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, equipment, and safety standards.

Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with flexibility around event schedules.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required based on event schedules.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the arena for extended periods.

Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including ice rinks or areas with low temperatures.

Must be able to work on ladders or scaffolding for high dusting and other cleaning tasks.
