Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. This position will work and be part of the Texas Center For Proton Therapy Dosimetry Team located at our Irving, Texas Location.     Responsibilities:
    What does the position require?
    In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The Dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images; which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

    The essential duties and responsibilities:
    • Must be able to generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and various imaging modalities, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
    • Must be able to adapt to ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.
    • Must be able to perform routine duties independent of supervision but consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
    • Must be able to consult and communicate with the therapists regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
    • Strong experience with Raystaion, Mosiaq, and iKnowMed Generation 2.
    Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate for the Certified Medical Dosimetrist will have the following minimum qualifications:
    • Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) preferred.
    • Two years of experience with Raystation TPS preferred.
    • Two years of experience preferred although new graduates will be considered.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in planning VMAT, IMRT, SBRT, and 3D plans.
    • Prior work in Proton Therapy environment a plus
