Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. At Cedars-Sinai Hospital we do not treat all cancers the same. There are more than 20 cancer centers, programs or specialized services that specialize in treatment and groundbreaking research into specific forms of cancer. These centers and programs provide patient centered care and brand new diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures. At the Department of Radiation Oncology, our oncologists, therapists and staff work together to design custom treatment plans for specific cancer diagnoses. This ensures the patient will more quickly feel normal, with minimal impact on healthy tissues from the effects of radiation.
As our next Clinical Nurse IV, you will use your strong clinical knowledge to deliver direct care to assigned pediatric, adult and or geriatric patients participating in radiation therapy treatments in an ambulatory setting. Your role will entail a strong emphasis on managing side effects, whether the patient is new, on-treatment or coming in for follow-up visits.

Licenses:
California Sate RN license
ACLS/BLS
Specialty Certification
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of Acute Care NUrsing experience. At least 5 years experience within the specialty area.
Must be a Clinical Nurse III at CSMC for at least one (1) year, to be promoted within the clinical ladder- for internal hire
Physical Demands:

*Manual finger dexterity and fine motor skills with eye-hand coordination
*Frequent standing, walking, twisting (trunk, neck), bending (waist)flexing/extending/stretching(extremities and trunk)
*Occasional sitting, gripping/grasping, reaching below shoulder level, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, squatting
*Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull at least 100 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
