Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. OCSRI is a show site for both Elekta products and the C-Rad surface guidance system.

    Duties and Responsibilities of this Level, include but are not limited to:

    • Acquisition of patient data via computer generated data sets from medical imaging devices such as CT, PET, MR, etc., incorporation of this data into radiation treatment plans, calculations, and treatment devices
    • Assisting in image guidance.
    • Assisting the RTT in the treatment simulation process.
    • Generation of isodose distributions, and performance of dose calculations
    • according to the Radiation Oncologist’s written directive/orders.
    • Incorporation of patient data from medical imaging procedures as the imaging data pertains to simulation, radiation treatment planning, treatment delivery and quality assurance.
    • Contouring and delineating of clearly discernable normal critical structures using different imaging modalities and with the aid of artificial intelligence in the form of Radformations.
    • Application of principles and concepts of radiation physics in radiation treatment planning, which includes, but is not limited to, 2D treatment planning, 3D conformal treatment planning, intensity modulated treatment planning (IMRT), Stereotactic Body (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) 4D treatment planning, volumetric modulated arc and brachytherapy (HDR) planning.
    • Accurately transfer and document treatment parameters electronically according to departmental policies in record and verify system, Mosaiq.
    • Documents and performs patient billing information accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Supports and adheres to the Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.  

    Qualifications: 

    A graduate of an accredited Medical Dosimetry program. Board eligible with certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) obtained within two years of graduation from the program. Bachelor's degree preferred.  

    OR

    A Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) with two years of dosimetry experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    BLS and/or ALS CPR certification required. 

    Experience:

    3D, IMRT and Stereotactic planning on Monaco for Elekta linear accelerators and TomoTherapy Planning on Precision experience preferred. Experience with MIM contouring and summation is a plus.  Experience with HDR planning on Oncentra is preferred. Experience with C-Rad surface guidance and DIBH techniques is a plus. 

    After the initial 90-day orientation period this position will allow employees to work from home at least 50% of the time.
