Radiologic Technologist performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. Positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Being a Radiologic Technologist develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. Additionally, Radiologic Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Radiologic Technologist works under moderate supervision.     What You’ll Do:

    Performs radiologic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties:

    • Prepares and positions patients for imaging procedures.
    • Maintains records that include patient information, x-rays, related documents/reports, and other correspondence files.
    • Completes duties according to requirements of each procedure requiring radiological support.
    • Assembles necessary supplied and positioning aids for scheduling procedures according to physicians’ preference cards.
    • Tests and monitors equipment for proper working conditions.
    • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions.
    • Documents records and other forms, accurately adhering to approved policies/procedures.
    • Confirms that all persons in the room are appropriately shielded before activating the X-ray.
    • Communicates information about the patient’s status to other persons responsible for patient care.
    • Applies the prescribed procedures to perform radiology technician functions competently.
    • Follows principles of aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure.
    • Remains available during the procedure to respond promptly to the physician or patient’s needs.
    • Follows manufacturer’s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing X-ray procedures.
    • Competent and responsible in the prevention of contamination and transfer of infection.
    • Completes continual education to improve job performance, maintain licensure/certification/registration, and stay abreast of current trends and practices.

    What You Need For This Job:

    • High School Diploma or general education degree
    • Graduate from a formal radiology program and ARRT registered or registry eligible. Associate degree or higher preferred.
    • CPR/ First Aid Certification
    • One-Three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
    • Must reside in or near Anchorage, Alaska.
    • Have general knowledge of EMR software and Outlook Programs
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to frequently stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
