Recreational Therapy Coordinator

Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health is a 64-bed Residential Treatment Center that offers quality behavioral health services to adolescent males and females aged 7-20 with psychiatric, behavioral, or conduct issues.

The Recreational Coordinator supervises and coordinates the activities of residents in the program to facilitate using art/music/other activities as a therapeutic modality for children/adolescents presenting with a variety of mental health issues/diagnoses. The Coordinator follows policies, procedures, standards and objectives of their regulated area of expertise. The Coordinator will further support the mission of the organization through compliance with a performance improvement program and standard operating procedures. This position requires the development and conducting of an art or music therapy program based on evidence-based programming materials and best practices. The Coordinator will facilitate the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, to diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health.

Education: High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Therapy, or related therapeutic discipline, preferred.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure:N/A

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI training within 90 days.
