On behalf of Ascension Medical Group Genesys, Providers Staffing, Inc., is hiring a full-time Medical Receptionist/Referral Specialist for the Linden office. This person must have strong front desk skills and will be responsible for assisting with all referrals.

PRIMARY MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST RESPONSIBILITIES/REFERRAL SPECIALIST:

• Greet and arrive all patients in a courteous manner.
• Ability to handle a high volume of patient calls.
• Ensure patients complete the required documentation.
• Collect co-pays and balances.
• Schedule all appointments.
• Order and document appointment details in EHR.
• Schedule patient diagnostic and specialist appointments.
• Responsible for referral process from start to completion.
• Test Tracks outside appointments and consultations.
• Maintain an organized file of customized referral forms for the various specialist offices.
• Obtain authorizations for high level imaging.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications.
• Communicate effectively with providers (by documentation in the EHR) the status of a referral, especially if referral authorization is denied.
• Send out relevant records to the appropriate specialist when a referral is made.
• Scan in current correspondence into the EHR after reviewed by Provider.
• Update HMP after procedures and tests.
• Handle all scanning, faxes & incoming mail.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of medical office experience.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with insurance billing and procedures.
• Prior experience with EHR (Allscripts preferred).
• Attention to detail.
• Well developed time and task management skills.
• Professional demeanor.
• Referral experience required.
• Charge entry experience preferred.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
