The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, and stack products used in truss, floor truss, and wall panel production. This role requires efficiency, precision, and adherence to safety standards to support production and maintain an organized warehouse and production area.
Key Responsibilities:
Forklift Operations:
§ Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to move materials around the facility, including loading and unloading delivery trucks.
§ Transport lumber, truss components, and wall panel materials between storage and production areas.
Inventory Management:
§ Accurately place materials and products in assigned locations to maintain warehouse organization.
§ Record movements, transfers, and adjustments within the inventory system.
Support Production:
§ Supply necessary materials to production lines, ensuring minimal downtime.
§ Assist in maintaining stock levels for trusses, floor trusses, and wall panel materials.
§ Safely follow all tasks assigned by co-workers and/or supervisors.
§ Safely use issued Radio to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
§ All other assigned duties.
Quality and Inspection:
§ Inspect incoming materials and report any damage or discrepancies.
§ Ensure that all loads are secure and balanced to prevent accidents or material damage.
Safety and Maintenance:
§ Perform daily inspections of the forklift to ensure safety and operational standards.
§ Adhere to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and operational standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
§ Maintain accurate records of daily forklift operations, inventory movements, and inspection logs.
§ Report any issues, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
§ High school diploma or equivalent.
§ Valid forklift certification/license.
§ Prefers 3 years of forklift operation experience, ideally in manufacturing or lumber environments.
§ Familiarity with material handling in truss, wall panel, or lumber related industries.
§ Strong understanding of safety regulations, load limits, and inventory management.
§ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
§ Comfort with extended periods of sitting and operating heavy machinery.
§ Capability to work in environments exposed to sawdust, outdoor conditions, and fluctuating temperatures.
