Marketing and Communications Coordinator

  • OBJECTIVE:

    The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing messaging, managing relationships, and engaging stakeholders across our six-county region. This position focuses on effectively communicating and showcasing the impacts of regional planning activities and will play a crucial role in telling the story of how regional planning efforts positively influence the communities, businesses, and residents within the area.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    A. The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

    • Develop and execute outreach plans to engage and educate community members, businesses, stakeholders, and decision-makers about the impact of regional planning.
    • Coordinate and participate in public meetings, workshops, and events to gather input, address concerns, and build regional support.
    • Drafting, editing, and distributing various forms of written communication highlighting organizational activities.
    • Writing, managing, and updating web content with timely and relevant information.
    • Developing and disseminating newsletters and other updates; building and curating social media platforms; graphic design for written and printed content.
    • Manages, designs, and deploys innovative digital campaigns to reach member counties, partners, businesses, and funders via social media and other digital channels.
    • Provides design support for written and printed materials, including layout for reports, issue briefs, project profiles, and more.
    • Manages event-related communications activities in collaboration and coordination with staff.
    • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication and outreach activities. Collect data and feedback to measure the reach, engagement, and impact of messaging efforts.
    • Manage the implementation of the Commission’s Public Participation Plan (PPP), especially regarding transportation legislation, including environmental justice requirements, the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Plan, and Title VI and DBE requirements.
    • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts and recommend adjustments as needed.

    REPORTS PREPARED MAY INCLUDE:

    Various reports may be requested such as project profiles, newsletters, and annual program reports.

    INTERFACE:

    Internal - Must interface positively with other North Central staff and departments to promote the programs, vision, and mission of the commission.

    External - Must maintain positive rapport with media, county and municipal officials, business, partnering agencies, State and Federal department liaisons, elected officials, and the public.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education – Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.; OR equivalent education/training and experience combined.

    Experience – Proven experience in developing and implementing successful communications strategies, preferably in a public or regional planning context.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    · Proficiency in Social Media Platforms

    · Must have familiarity with public relations practices, media relations, and community outreach techniques.

    · Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and engaging messages for diverse audiences.

    · Must have strong time management and organizational skills.

    · Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

    · Must have strong computer skills.

    · Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel.

    · Sitting: 60%; Walking/standing: 40%

    EQUIPMENT UTILIZED

    · Personal computer and printer

    · General office equipment, i.e., telephone, fax machine, copiers, calculators, etc.

    · Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $41,200.00 - $49,400.00 per year
