Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Services management team, the Food Service Aide performs a variety of both skilled and unskilled duties such as assisting with food preparation and cleaning dietary equipment and utensils, assistance in serving food in the cafeteria and working in the tray make-up area.

All duties are to be performed in the best interest of SEORMC and its patients.

                                                          WORK PERFORMED

*Will vary depending on scheduled position

1.         Sets up trayline station and assembles trays for patient meals according to diet orders.

2.         Portion food items for patient trays.

3.         Pours juices, makes coffee and bags bread.

4.         Disassembles trays in dishroom, racks dishes, and feeds dishes through dishmachine;

            unloads, stacks, and puts away clean dishes.

5.         Safely operates food service equipment as needed.

6.         Helps set up cafeteria for meal service and serves foods attractively and efficiently.

7.         Acquires and maintains knowledge of special diets i.e. cardiac, diabetic, renal, etc.

8.         Cleans all dietary areas and equipment as assigned.

9.         Reports safety hazards and faulty equipment to supervisor.

10.       Follows established rules of the Ohio Department Health (ODH) food safety and sanitation.

11.      Takes food temperatures and records them.

12.       Prepares, portions, and assembles supplemental feedings, tube feedings, and nourishment for patients.

13.      Practices good customer relations techniques with customers and fellow associates.

14.       Performs all other related duties as assigned.

15.       Attends all departmental in-services  as scheduled.

16.       Does kitchen laundry.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training:

A minimum of a high school education or equivalent is preferred. Food Handler ServSafe certification preferred.

Experience:

Previous food handling experience preferred.  All Food Service Aides receive on-the-job training under supervision.

Knowledge:

Must know how to operate dishwashing machine, trayline equipment, and equipment for preparation of vegetables and salads.
