Registrar oversees university/college's system of student records. Responsible for class registration, assigning classroom space, and updating student records. Being a Registrar ensures that all requirements have been met prior to graduation and that diplomas are factually correct. Determines students who have achieved certain scholastic goals, such as the Dean's List. Additionally, Registrar requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Registrar contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     About the Opportunity: 

    Registrar | $65,000-$70,000

    What you’ll do: 

    • Draft and oversee consignment and loan agreements, with a focus on the secondary market.
    • Liaise with clients to coordinate the shipment and, at times, installation of sold artworks.
    • Coordinate and oversee domestic and international shipments.
    • Conduct incoming and outgoing condition inspections and process artwork upon arrival. 
    • Organize conservation and framing projects, as necessary, and maintain clear communications with stakeholders and track all associated costs.
    • Responsible for understanding the gallery’s insurance policy and ensuring compliance.
    • Exhibition logistics management: discuss shipping needs with departments, provide shipping and crating budgets and timelines.
    • Responsible for understanding customs and tax regulations and requirements for shipping artworks internationally.
    • Compile, process, and manage records of all associated shipping paperwork in accordance with New York State Sales Tax requirements.
    • Determine best packing and handling procedures and communicate requirements to shipping companies.

    What we would like you to have:

    • BA (Art History, Administration, Studio Arts preferred). 
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position in the field of contemporary art.
    • Focused, reliable, and exacting attention to detail.
    • Must be able to work with team members at all levels.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross departmentally.
    • Familiarity with various mediums of artwork; working knowledge of conservation techniques a plus.
    • Experience with secondary market consignments a plus.
    • Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects at once.
