GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Fire and Safety Compliance Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the Agency's fire and safety procedures to ensure compliance as well as the development and oversight of the Emergency Preparedness Plan. This position works with the Facilities Director as well as the Safety Committee to help develop the agency's overall safety plan and training of staff on the procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate Degree in the area of Occupational Safety, Human Services, or another related field or High School Diploma with one year experience in role related to Fire and Safety Compliance and Risk Management. Knowledge of Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety Codes, Fire Prevention, Risk Management and OSHA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for monitoring Agency fire and safety compliance. Conducts periodic audits to assure fire and safety compliance at facilities owned or operated by The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler.
• Oversight of the Agency's Emergency Preparedness Plan and procedures.
• Prepare an Annual Risk Assessment report and include areas identified in the Agency's Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Coordinates fire drill schedule as well as observes drill evacuations. Reviews all completed fire drill forms for all sites to ensure compliance and concerns noted are appropriately addressed.
• Reviews fire and life safety systems with Fire Marshall's office and Bureau of Program Certification to ensure legal and safe systems.
• Prepares and presents effective employee training on proper fire and safety response procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality & Compliance Director.

• Must be able to tolerate the stresses associated with multiple, simultaneous demands
• Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk and frequently required to use hand and fingers
• Safely operate a motor vehicle and be able to obtain a license therefore
• Lifting: May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
