Summary
Responsible for oversight of the regulatory compliance and PPS Programs within the MFB partnerships, including all Medicare documentation requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Development of documentation systems that assure consistent compliance with all CMS admission and medical necessity criteria.
· Development of documentation templates and programs that assure compliance with Medicare documentation requirements.
· Develop and implement proactive audits of clinical documentation to assure compliance.
· Develop and implement programs to promote accurate capture of comorbidities, and accurate selection of Case Mix Groups for inpatients.
· Provides leadership in all MFB partner facilities, related to all payer audits, denial appeals, and other aspects of our work that impacts payment from Medicare and other payers.
· Promotes sharing of best practices and operational resources across the Mary Free Bed partnerships.
· Facilitates or provides education to interdisciplinary teams related to evidenced-based documentation related to functional scoring.
· Supports broader MFB partnership operations as needed, facilitating strong working relationships with colleagues, physicians, and staff in multiple locations around the system.
· Collects and reviews relevant quality data and works with partnership sites to ensure continuous process improvement.

Essential Job Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in allied health.
· Experience as a PPS Coordinator, Coder, or similar level of responsibility within an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Active Driver’s License with willingness to travel to system sites.
· Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with leaders, staff, and physicians.
· Energy and passion for driving change.
· Background in a clinical field related to rehabilitation, or related health care services such as coding.
· Strong knowledge of inpatient rehabilitation services and principles of the PPS program, clinical documentation requirement, and regulatory requirements.
· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team of professionals for problem solving.
· Demonstrates commitment to organizational mission with a “whatever it takes” attitude to get the job done.
Preferred Job Qualifications
· Experience in regulatory appeals and outstanding writing abilities.
· MBA or related master’s degree
