Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department for a nursing home. Develops and implements rehabilitation programs by working with the operational leadership team and medical staff. Being a Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Responsible for the direction, planning, and operation of the rehabilitation function. Job duties:
• Interpret department policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.
• Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc. related to facility operations.
• Assist in the identification of indicators and development of ways to monitor topics to be reviewed.
• Assist in the development of monitoring tools and data collection methodology.
• Assist in the review and evaluation of data, determining presence or absence of opportunities for improvement of care.
• Assist in the determination of causes and actions when opportunities for improvement are identified.
• Assist in documenting and reporting Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Make recommendations when quality assurance activities can be combined with other activities.
• Review information from third-party payer and outside accrediting bodies and make recommendations that departments/services can review or monitor if necessary.
• Organize and make available reports for Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
• Assure M.D.S. and quarterly updates are complete.
• Assure care plans are complete.
• Report emergencies such as residents’ condition changes, as well as accidents and incidents, complaints and grievances by residents and their families, etc.
Minimum Work Experience: The facility prefers that all employees have prior health care experience and be knowledgeable of the essential job functions they will be performing. It is preferred that employees have a minimum of six months of long-term care experience.
