Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department for a nursing home. Develops and implements rehabilitation programs by working with the operational leadership team and medical staff. Being a Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Responsible for the direction, planning, and operation of the rehabilitation function. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home develops and implements policies and procedures regarding staffing and budget. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require a professional certification. The Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. A qualified director of nursing will have an active Nebraska nursing license (RN) and an active CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Manage nursing leadership and the nursing team to ensure quality care is being provided.
- Handle the on-call schedule among nurse leadership (including yourself).
- Monthly audits and reviews (track call lights, med errors, risk management, expenses, etc).
- Grievance follow-ups.
- Staffing for the nursing team and nursing leadership.
- Oversee clinical classes of nursing students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Pass a physical exam.
- Lift, push, pull and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc.
- Be able to life up to 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
- Bend, stoop and twist almost constantly throughout the day.
- See and hear well enough to take blood pressure, chart, read thermometers, etc.
- Remain active and on their feet for up to four (4) hours at a time.
