Role responsibilities
We have a fantastic opportunity available within our Fleet function for an Engineering Manager to join our Canton Maintenance Depot.
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and support within the Fleet function, and proactively engage across the function to ensure compliance with maintenance specifications and assist in Fleet Asset Management.
You will work closely with, and support the Head of Engineering, where you will be required to deputise for the Head of Engineering as and when needed.
In this varied role, you will provide direct line management and development for the Technical Support Engineers, Fleet Training team and overall accountability for the development of engineering apprentices and graduates.
Communication and flexibility will be key as the successful candidate will look to lead by example and promote positive attitudes and behaviours in the workplace. You will take ownership of ensuring apprentices are maintaining standards and achieving their targets aby following a detailed process and will communicate frequently with the apprentice framework providers ensuring internal/external relationships are maintained.
You will carry out on-call duties and manage allocated budgets, providing data and reports when requested and ensure late events/late cycle completions are up to date in the Fleet Competency Management System.

Essential requirements to be considered for this role:
- Hold a relevant engineering Degree or HNC with 5 years Rolling Stock experience
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with an ability to prioritise and organise workload to maximum efficiency to achieve maximum results
- Able to lead by example with strong skills and experience in managing and developing a team
- Experience of managing resources
- Professional Accreditation and a Competency Verification qualification are desirable but not essential
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would be advantageous to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
