Reliability Engineer analyzes and evaluates the reliability of products, equipment, components, and processes using engineering methodologies and tools. Develops the methods and measures utilized for reliability analysis based on product specifications, tolerances, or operating standards. Being a Reliability Engineer utilizes analysis techniques like FMEA, fault tree, and root cause analysis to identify problems. Oversees testing activities and reviews results. Additionally, Reliability Engineer creates risk-based failure mitigation plans. Proposes new or revised product designs, manufacturing processes and testing specifications that utilize best practices and will increase reliability. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to an engineering manager. The Reliability Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, assists higher level operators with the maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection system and water distribution system; inspects equipment and facilities to ensure proper and continued efficient operations; cleans and maintains equipment and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess valid class A CDL (Coursework, training, work experience, or equivalent combination) Completion of secondary education, plus two (2) years experience in wastewater treatment operations. The ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds and demonstrate physical fitness necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the classification. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, and maintain continuing eligibility for insurance coverage under the existing vehicle insurance policy held by the County.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: (The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.)
20-30% (1) Checks operations of wastewater treatment plants; observes meters and records readings; cleans settling tanks, aeration tanks, diffusers, wet wells, chlorine tanks, blower rooms and buildings, etc,; inspects facilities, equipment and systems to ensure efficient operations.
20-30% (2) Assists with the maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities and systems (e.g., pulls, repairs, replaces and installs pumps, blowers, motors, etc.); assists in troubleshooting electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems; operates a variety of hand-held and power tools necessary to complete assignments.
15-25% (3) Maintains wastewater collection systems (e.g., unblocks sewers, replaces and/or repairs broken mains, etc.); maintains water distribution system (replaces broken mains, hydrants, etc.).
5-10% (4) Collects samples at various stages of the treatmentprocess; conducts routine tests on samples; makes treatment plant adjustments.
5-10% (5) Operates backhoe and dump truck in maintenance and repair of sewer and water distribution systems.
5-10% (6) Maintains areas surrounding buildings (e.g., mows lawns, levels, reseeds, trims trees and bushes, removes snow and ice, etc.).
0-5% (7) Assists with the preparation of operational records (e.g., log reports, daily readings, records of needed repairs, etc.).
