  • Job Summary
    The Activities Director plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational programs and activities. This position requires a compassionate individual who can foster a supportive environment for residents, particularly those dealing with aging issues, disabilities, or dementia. The Activities Director will work closely with staff and caregivers to ensure that all activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community.

    Duties

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being.
    • Plan and coordinate events, and recreational activities that cater to the interests of residents.
    • Consult with each resident their likes/dislikes, abilities and personal preferences.
    • Ensure the social care plan for each resident is in place within 2 weeks from date of admission and is kept up to date quarterly.
    • Ensure all residents receive some form of social activity each week and residents receive one to one time.
    • Collaborate with caregivers and staff to assess individual resident needs and preferences for activities.
    • Provide guidance and support in daily living activities (ADLs) for residents requiring assistance.
    • Facilitate group sessions that encourage participation from all residents, including those with disabilities or dementia.
    • Maintain an organized a monthly schedule of activities and ensure effective communication regarding upcoming events.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments based on resident feedback and participation levels.
    • Foster a positive environment that encourages social interaction among residents.
    • recruit a network of volunteers to provide a variety of desired appropriate social opportunities.
    • Follow all policies and procedures including confidentiality.

    Experience

    • Previous experience in event planning or recreational therapy is preferred.
    • Background in caregiving or home community care is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with aging issues counseling and working with individuals with disabilities is beneficial.
    • Strong schedule management skills to effectively coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset.
    • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
    • Ability to pass a DSHS criminal back ground check is a must.
