Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will work closely with our Director of Operations to create a vibrant engagement program for our residents. You will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging activities for our senior residents. Your role will involve creating a positive and stimulating environment that promotes social interaction, physical well-being, and mental stimulation. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of our senior residents
- Plan and coordinate a variety of activities such as games, crafts, music therapy sessions, exercise classes, outings, and special events
- Assess the individual needs and interests of residents to tailor activities to their preferences
- Provide guidance and support to residents in participating in activities
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless coordination of activities
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in senior care and recreational therapy
Requirements:
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with seniors is required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
- Knowledge of aging issues and experience in counseling seniors on various topics related to aging
- Familiarity with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and memory care techniques
- A background in recreational therapy or related field is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for seniors
- Understanding of social work principles related to senior care is a plus
- Experience in dementia care is preferred
