Research Analyst jobs in Dundalk, MD

Position Objective: Provide services as a Technical Research Analyst in support of the overall functions of The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Provide technical experience needed to assist in analyzing scientific and technical research projects. Ability to execute lab research tasks, including programming, analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, modifying, and maintaining data analysis pipelines. Prepare various reports and presentations detailing analysis of data. Performs basic research of various forms of scientific and technical literature and prepares summaries and in-depth reviews. Coordinates with staff in order to communicate research progress and results. Recommend changes and improvements in research processes and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with staff on scientific and technical research needs and requirements relating to program planning, analysis, communications and reporting functions. 1
• Develop analytical documents that synthesizes and presents results of data analyses and draws inferences, outlines options, and makes recommendations that bear on program activities and policies.2
• Produce publication quality, informative graphical representations of images from research studies.
• Work with staff on researching and drafting technical reports, analyzing data from the studies and publishing research findings. 4
• Research both computerized and non-computerized medical and public health literature in major national and international databases and academic journals.
• Work with staff on researching and preparing scientific and technical briefings, presentations and other reports in response to various requests.
• Perform research on social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Govdelivery) and CCR websites using quantitative and qualitative content analytics. 5
• Work with staff in preparing written reports pertaining to research progress and performance, or to operational, financial or other issues.
• Research and draft recommendations to improvise specific scientific and technical research methodologies based on academic best practices. 3
• Ability to define and solve logical problems for technical applications. - Ad-Hoc
• Meet with lab members to present updates - Ad-Hoc Knowledge of and ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming - Ad-Hoc
• Understanding of statistics / linear algebra / quantitative research methods - Ad-Hoc

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming and Data Processing, Computer and Information Systems, or Information Sciences.
• Certifications/licenses: Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
• Skilled in SQL, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Python, Excel, WebEx, Word, R, Linux, GIT/GITHub, deep learning framework (Pytorch), data science packages (Numpy, Pandas), AWS, transformers (Hugging Face), chatbots and dialogue systems (recommended).
• Experience in building AI-powered chatbots from scratch using AI, ML, and NLP technologies.
• Knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and manuscripts.  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
