Research Data Specialist jobs in Chicago, IL

The Data Entry Clerk/Specialist is responsible for entering alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into a database. Duties include comparing data entered with source documents, correcting entered data if necessary, compiling, sorting and verifying accuracy of data to be entered and generating project documentation. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy with a keen eye for detail. Understanding of data confidentiality principles is compulsory. The company will rely on you for having accurate and updated data that are easily accessible through a digital database.

Responsibilities

· Create data entry and Excel data entry formats

· Set up retrieval of meta data

· Follow IS and Survey Programmers schedule

· Verify data by comparing it to source documents

· Edit files to ensure consistency with the Analytical Plan and clients

· Works closely with survey programmers and data processing to insure correct data retrieval

· Report any inconsistency between programmed survey and questionnaire

· Generate project documentation

· Other duties as assigned

Skills

· Proven experience as data entry clerk

· Experience with Microsoft Office required

· Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices

· Basic understanding of databases

· Experience in LINUX including text editor VI a plus

· Must have good problem solving ability and ability to multitask

· Must be able to see projects through to completion

· Good communication skills

· Great attention to detail

· High school degree or equivalent
