Electronics Calibration Technician, Journeyman

    Required Education: Position requires an AS or AA degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering/scientific field.
    ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: A High School diploma or GED credential and two (2) years of recent and relevant technical experience related to the labor category “Description” may be substituted for an AS or AA degree. These two (2) years of experience are in addition to the required minimum of six (6) years to meet the “Experience” requirements below, therefore, requiring a total of eight (8) years of experience.

    Experience: At least six (6) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category “Description”. Four (4) years of experience, to include: installation of such equipment. One (1) year of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings is required. Experience may be concurrent.
     
    Functional Description: The Electronics Calibration Technician supports life-cycle sustainment of aircraft, systems and sub-systems through periodic calibration, testing, maintenance and repair of measurement systems. The Technician may work independently or as part of a task Team in the Calibration Laboratory, or in other areas of the Division as workloads dictate. The Technician’s primary duties include calibration of electronics and Radio Frequency (RF) Calibration Standards (CALSTD) and aviation Support Equipment (SE) using NAVAIR-approved reference CALSTD and Instrument Calibration Procedures (ICP). These duties require the technician to have a background in metrology, electronics calibration and/or equivalent supporting education.

    Skills Required:
    • Perform calibration of electronic, electrical and RF SE and CALSTD including:
    • Passive/active electronic and RF devices;
    • Signal generators, frequency counters, oscilloscopes and multimeters;
    • Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), synchro resolvers, network analyzers and power sensors;
    • Generation and measurement of capacitance, resistance, voltage and current;
    • Precise alignments of supporting aircraft systems and subsystems;
    • Complete/precise documentation of maintenance actions ensuring highest reliability for work produced.
    • Coordinate with Team and Room Leads in the planning and completion of workload priorities.
    • Military or commercial background in electronics calibration or educational equivalent;
    • Two years’ prior experience in metrology preferred;
    • Strong communication skills including read, write, understand, and speak basic English (required);
    • Ability to work independently or within a team environment;
    • Strong time management and customer service skills;
    • Computer-literate, including Microsoft office intermediate experience.
