Are you enthusiastic about working with female and male adolescents who may have lost their direction, may be struggling with some trauma events, and are receiving an opportunity to stay out of a higher level of care so they can find their path to wellness? If so, then I want to meet you. This is not a CBRS or case manager position. However, having a 4-year degree in health services (social work, counseling, education), or a 4-year degree in criminal justice or related area (sociology, criminal psychology, law enforcement administration, or rehabilitation) is desired, or if you have 2 or more years working with adolescents, this can also be considered.
The ideal candidate may be involved in an interview with County Juvenile Probation staff members. These adolescent clients may be participating in a diversion program through County probation. This “meet and greet” step may help identify the right individual for this position. Right fit is especially important and a commitment to being part of a collaborative team is vital.
This position is “PRN” or “as needed,” so this is a perfect position for someone who needs flexibility in their schedule. You will be a contracted employee and be paid for services rendered. Most clients will be in the Twin Falls County and surrounding areas. You will need reliable transportation, a valid Idaho driver’s license, and a clean driving record, as you will be picking up clients at their home and then spending time in the community.
You will need to pass a criminal background check (paid for by the company). Other benefits may include paid CEUs after 6 months of employment.
This position will play an especially important part of the team that is committed to assisting adolescents with finding alternative ways of managing emotions, identifying protective factors, and mitigating certain risk factors. You can help facilitate this positive change process. The mentor’s role is to help support the clients in achieving any target goals that may be assigned by their probation officer. Additionally, excellent verbal and written communication skills are important to share progress with the client’s team.
