`Part-Time Museum Shop Assistant Manager
The Part-Time Museum Shop Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in the operations and success of our Museum Shop and Cafe while enjoying the flexibility of a part-time position. This role requires a blend of strong retail management skills, customer service excellence, and a passion for arts and culture. You will work closely with the Museum Shop Manager to ensure the smooth functioning of the shop and café to create an engaging experience for our visitors. The expected work hours are Wednesday through Friday and Sunday 9:30am-5pm with occasional evenings as required.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide guidance and supervision to museum shop and café staff and volunteers during scheduled shifts, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure that team members are trained on proper shop and café procedures and to deliver exceptional customer service.
2. Assist in scheduling of Visitor Services staff to provide coverage for Shop and Cafe for all required hours, including special event needs.
3. Provide outstanding customer service to museum visitors. Assist customers in finding products, answering inquiries, and providing information about museum exhibitions and programs.
4. Assist with monitoring inventory levels, stock rotation, and merchandise displays to optimize sales and maintain a visually appealing shop environment and café.
5. Support the Museum Shop Manager in planning and executing creative and visually appealing displays that highlight merchandise and promote sales.
6. Actively promote museum shop and café products and services to visitors, maximizing sales opportunities while upholding the Museum's mission and values.
7. Prepare end of day transactional reconcilements and communicate any discrepancies or issues to the Museum Shop Manager.
8. For the Café within the Museum Shop, ensure the café environment reflects the museum’s atmosphere and aesthetic, perform daily opening and closing procedures, monitor inventory levels, places orders for supplies and maintain safe food and beverage handling procedures.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of three years experience in retail management.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, analyze sales data, and implement strategies to drive revenue growth.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with inventory management software.
5. Knowledge of beverage preparation techniques and equipment is advantageous.
6. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
7. Flexibility to work part-time hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
