Performs intermediate advanced human support work providing individual and family counseling to at-risk youth referred by the courts, law enforcement, and DSS, assessing individuals experiencing behavioral health symptoms, monitoring treatment, preparing and maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Youth Services Director.

Essential Functions
Performs and completes comprehensive clinical diagnostic assessments on newly referred clients.
Clinical Assessments.
Provides individual, family, and/or group counseling on a daily basis in-homes, schools, or offices.
Evaluates and assesses the needs of children and their families; develops treatment plans; monitors treatment of clients.
Educates clients and their families with regards to methods to assist them in making independent judgements in their lives.
Makes referrals as appropriate to community and professional resources based upon the needs of the clients.
Prepares and submits reports and other types of correspondence; prepares and maintains files and records.
Collaborates with other agencies and professionals in providing comprehensive treatment for clients.
Maintains required documentation including record of client progress through progress notes.
Informs supervisor of perceived problem areas related to client, service system, or community needs.
Participates in continuing education, such as professional conferences, trainings and clinical trainings to enhance and maintain knowledge of empirically supported practices and best practices; utilizes current research to evaluate and enhance existing practices.
Participates in regular staffing of cases with clinical staff and supervisor; participates in departmental projects as required.
Attends meetings and conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures; general knowledge of counseling and social work principles and practices particularly as related to child behavior; general knowledge of child residential care and treatment programs; general knowledge of community services and facilities available for adolescents; general knowledge of applicable State laws, rules and regulations; thorough knowledge in preparing reports and other types of correspondence; general knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to develop care and treatment plans for children suffering emotional and social problems; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with adolescents, other employees, officials and the general public.
Education and Experience
Master's degree with coursework in psychology, social work, or related field and moderate experience in the care and treatment of children, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
