SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the accounting department. This includes overseeing employees, reviewing financial statements, and preparing reports for upper management. The Accounting Manager is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the core Goodwill values of -Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Prepare accounting reports on a routine basis.
• Review and match purchase orders to invoices.
• Process accounts payable based on approvals received.
• Reconcile monthly bank statements and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and process monthly general entries, including but not limited to payroll accrual, workers’ compensation, prepaid insurance, depreciation, expenses, and medical insurance.
• Prepare quarterly reports, including but not limited to SUTA and 941 reports.
• Responsible for assigning tasks to direct reports ensuring accuracy for each job and conducting annual performance reviews. Conduct training workshops.  
• Produce the year-end closing, including payroll, sales, purchasing, and general ledger modules.
• Audit stores on a bi-annual basis.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any of the following three may be used to qualify:

• Five (5) years of related experience
• Associate degree in a business-related field and three (3) years of related experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and one (1) year of related experience

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
• CPA certification or candidacy 
• Supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Exceptional time management skills to plan, organize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain various accounting records and coordinate activities with other employees.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to learn and work independently.
• Ability to work well with others in a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and automated accounting systems and databases.
• Must possess a valid Driver License with a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to sit in an office environment for extended periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch.
• Ability to lift more than 25 pounds with assistance.
