ACCOUNTING MANAGER at River Terrace Inn located in the heart of the Napa Valley River Terrace Inn
Come work and be part of the RTI (River Terrace Inn). Our Napa River waterfront location includes 114 rooms, a fitness center and home to the ALBA Restaurant. The RTI is located within walking distance of restaurants, The Culinary Institute of America, Oxbow Public Market, the Napa Valley Wine Train and many other attractions.
DESCRIPTION - This position is responsible for the oversight of the hotel's general ledger operations and supports the hotel leadership team. Additionally, this person will be responsible for efficiently running the accounting department in line with hotel standards while meeting guest and owner expectations.
THE JOB - As the Accounting Manager, you will report to the Area Director of Finance and work closely with Payroll, HR, and other departments. Participate in local off-site meetings as needed.
RESPONSABILITIES:
Daily - Complete Income Audit, File documents, statements, letters, etc., and prepare responses, Update daily log or credits back to guest on no-shows if necessary, Oversight on direct billing as follows: 1) bill to customer daily; 2) process payment checks; 3) adjustments if necessary, Supervise filing system for dead folios/reservations and correspondence, Process check payments as necessary, Process credit applications, Manage hotel ledgers for cleanliness and accuracy
Semi-Monthly - Hotel: Code invoices. Tabulate multiple invoices and verify with statements. Process payment checks, Balance A/R aging reports, including trade-out,
Monthly - Pay all taxes due, supervise inventory record keeping. Do inventory audit if necessary. Complete extensions as necessary, Calculate and pay management fees, Prepare G/L for financial reports, Prepare bank reconciliations. Restaurant: Preliminary F/S issued by 5th working day of the month, Prepare P/L variance analysis as required, Calculate and fund FF&E reserve. Assist in preparation of key indicators report, prepare supporting work sheets for assets, liabilities accounts, Do cost efficiency analysis - make recommendations for improvement, Prepare full year forecast and subsequent variance commentary reports.
Quarterly - Room tax, sales tax, and B&O tax due, Partner cash distributions due.
Annually - Assist in preparing coming year's operation budget (due in November), Assist in preparation of the Capital Improvement Budget, Evaluate current year performance. Provide constructive suggestions. Assist in preparation of schedules requested by outside auditors.
QUALIFICATIONS - To be successful as an accounting manager must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as well as advanced computer skills with accounting software and databases. Strong verbal and written communications. Minimum of 2 years in hotel accounting or related field. BA/BS in accounting or relevant field preferred.
