Rig Operator is responsible for operation of the rig, crew, and equipment and for ensuring customer satisfaction with all services rendered. Ensures that all crew are at the rig and ready to work at scheduled time. Being a Rig Operator maintains productivity standards for all rig functions. Maintains a safe working environment and ensures compliance of applicable regulations and policies. Additionally, Rig Operator may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Rig Operator supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Rig Operator typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. GENERAL FUNCTION: The crane operator is responsible for the safe operation of a hydraulic and/or crawler crane. Hand levers and foot controls are manipulated to raise and lower the crane boom and load line, and to steer and rotate the chassis while moving structural components and materials within the shipyard. Job orders are compiled from the leaderman and operators must constantly be responsible for attending to hand signals for guidance. Crane operators may also assist in the maintenance of their crane/mobile equipment and will participate in doing some of their own rigging.

Move structural components and material within the shipyard.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of hand signals given by riggers in the movement of structural components or material. Knowledge of the workings of their crane; raise and lower boom, hand levers and foot controls. Knowledge of the lifting chart and how to read it.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: A minimum of one year experience in the operation of hydraulic/crawler crane and other mobile equipment.
