  • Summary:

    The West Town Payments Risk Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day workings of the Risk Department. This will include collaborating with the VP/Risk Officer to ensure the department is reviewing, assessing, and evaluating various types of merchant risk in a manner that meets the standards set forth by the VP/Risk Officer. The Risk Analyst will be required to consistently demonstrate the ability to make ethically sound decisions in the best interest of the Department and for Dart Bank. The Risk Analyst will be tasked with the daily monitoring of merchant accounts and various reports as assigned. Further, with the guidance of the VP/Risk Officer, the individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining all policies and procedures.

    Job Duties:

    1. Demonstrates the ability to accurately report to the VP/Risk Officer.
    2. Understands current markets, while forecasting fraud trends.
    3. Able to adjust polices to accurately mitigate changing risk levels.
    4. Manages the assigned day-to-day risk duties.
    5. Handles low level risk questions and concerns from the Underwriting Team as well as Dart employees, Agents, and Merchants.
    6. Able to make sound decisions based on the bank’s current risk tolerance.
    7. Consistently conducts thorough and comprehensive reviews of boarded merchants.
    8. Successfully puts together Periodic Reviews for Upper Management.
    9. Determines the merchant’s capacity and ability to process transactions in a legal and ethical way while staying within the guidelines set forth by the card brands.
    10. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with other all departments at Dart Bank.
    11. Assists the Underwriting Team in ongoing investigations whenever necessary.
    12. Efficiently and effectively manages assigned tasks and meets all deadlines.
    13. Recommends process improvements and helps drive them down through the department. Supports and helps implement organizational initiatives.
    14. Ensures the security and confidentiality of private customer information. Protects against unauthorized access to or use of customer information that could result in harm or inconvenience to the customer.
    15. Able to exercise discretion and work independently to make judgements with respect to matters of significance, and to be able to discern items that can impact risk to the bank.
    16. Works independently in the performance of office work directly related to the oversight and management of the general business operations of the bank while performing oversight and management of tasks on behalf of the bank’s customers and clients.
    17. Effectively manages expectations and changing priorities.
    18. Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
    19. All other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge Requirements:

    • Minimum Education/Certification: A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or other related area; or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Required Knowledge: A deep understanding of the widely used and established risk and underwriting principles within the credit card processing industry. A strong knowledge of credit analysis principles and pertinent laws. Excellent business, financial statement, collateral analysis, and research skills. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data. Demonstrated ability to handle escalated situations by resolving issues appropriately and effectively.

    Experience Requirements:

    Required Experience: 4 years of recent underwriting experience in a high-risk credit card processing environment.
    Preferred Experience: 6 years of experience in a similar or equivalent role.

    Skills Requirements:

    Strong verbal and written communications skills. Must be a creative thinker and proactive problem solver with a history of working efficiently and effectively. Meeting deadlines and following projects through to completion. Must be organized and detail oriented.
    Preferred Skills: Strong computer skills: including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as knowledge of computer systems as they relate to credit card processing.
