Risk Manager manages and administers an organization's risk-management programs. Implements policies, procedures, and controls to monitor and minimize the risk exposure of assets. Being a Risk Manager researches internal and external risk factors including economic, market, and regulatory risks that may affect the organization. Routinely evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to monitor changes in the business environment. Additionally, Risk Manager manages statistical analysis and designing of financial models to predict the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Reviews risk analysis reports to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Risk Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Risk Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As a First Line Risk Manager at Citizens you will be responsible for supporting and maturing the company’s Third-Party Assurance program and processes. The Third-Party Assurance is a valuable bank function as it provides specific business function vendor assurance, in relation to the customer, financial or reputational risks and leveraging findings and best practices on a bank-wide scale while working as part of the larger Strategic Sourcing and Third Party Assessment Team. You will manage relationships with the business and vendors, providing robust and challenging insight on business risk and on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control processes in place. Deliver compliance assessments, providing opinion on the quality of the vendor control environment needed to meet Citizens Bank policies including identifying issues.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Clearly articulating Third Party Compliance Testing program goals and objectives to wider audiences
    • Leading compliance assessments to assess vendor adherence to regulatory requirements and regulatory guidance, including communicating effectively to internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of seniority.
    • Evaluating the adequacy of third-party vendor’s compliance management systems and, where appropriate, conduct transactional testing sufficient to develop an opinion regarding the effectiveness of third-party vendor controls and/or processes.
    • Producing Vendor Compliance reports that clearly articulate risks in order to speak to a varied audience in accordance with departmental procedures.
    • Assess third party services for regulatory applicability and create the corresponding testing papers that assess regulatory compliance as needed.
    • Translating regulatory risk to communicate effectively to business partners within the organization.
    • Supporting and participating in regulatory exam preparation and execution as well as remediation where applicable
    • Collaborating with management to complete special projects and influence key decisions
    • Complete assessments within established deadlines to deliver quality work product according to a predetermined schedule.
    • Participate in a comprehensive approach to diligence and tactical third party contracting by collaborating with Third Party Assessment and Strategic Sourcing to mitigate risk and deliver quality third party solutions to internal stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in financial services organization, particularly in Risk, Audit, Compliance or Third-Party Vendor Assessment
    • Advanced critical thinking skills
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to lead complex meetings
    • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize workloads and work on own initiative
    • Strong thought leadership in risk management
    • Able to deliver under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards
    • Excellent business writing skills
    • Experience gathering and analyzing information from a range of different sources and in a number of different ways e.g., data collection, interviews, meetings, review of processes, manuals, and documentation review

    Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

    • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
    • Law Degree (beneficial)
    • CRCM (beneficial)

    • Hours per Week: 40
    • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
