SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Job description
The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety of all employees as well as the security of the facility. Collaborating with all departments to implement on-going safety training, overseeing training documentation, updating security measures throughout the facility.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Directs the development and administration of Risk Management
· Assesses and oversees investigations at the site
· Supports and assures compliance with incident and near miss investigation process to ensure compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and HS &S initiatives
· Implements safety and security programs, projects, policies, procedures and related statutory fire safety, health and safety
· Prevents and minimizes incidents, exposures, injuries and occupational illness
· Ability to input, run and maintain SH & E software programs
· Directs, manages and documents the following trainings for staff
o GMP
o Forklift
o LOTO
o Confine Space
o Half mask respirators testing
o Audiometric testing
o Harassment – Sexual, Religious, Race, Gender
o Waste Management, DOT HAZMAT
o Annual General Safety
o OSHA Regulations
· Establishes and maintains liaison with relevant law enforcement and government officials
· Maintain active and useful memberships in security associations
· Conducts monthly Safety Meetings to discuss incidents and upcoming inspections
· Knowledge of current security technology including access control, CCTV, identification and special applications

Licensing or Certificates
