SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Job Title: Purchasing Manager
    Department: Global Procurement & Supply Chain Development

    Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, supporting, inspiring and developing a world-class team of people who will develop and implement the Purchasing and Materials Planning strategy to ensure the achievement of our “why”, vision, mission and growth plans. The Manager oversees the day-to-day management of purchasing functions and directs activities to ensure purchased parts are shipped on schedule, and within quality standards while meeting cost objectives. The person in this role will work in a brand new, light-filled, state-of-the-art facility, together with a team of highly motivated and skilled team members.

    Responsibilities: As the Purchasing Manager you will:
    • Lead, develop and coached members of the Purchasing team (Buyers/Planners) on strategies to ensure correct parts and inventory where needed, when needed.
    • Drive closure of Day-to-Day Shortages while capturing root causes and long-term corrective actions.
    • Drive activities for forecasting, buying, distributing, and purchasing parts, materials, supplies, and services.
    • Manage and oversee, supplier PO acknowledgment to ensure on-time delivery of parts, materials, and supplies.
    • Track and manage supplier scorecards to drive performance improvements.
    • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
    • Review purchase requisitions, approve, issue purchase orders, and receive goods in accordance with negotiated terms and conditions. Order approved materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Create, implement, and monitor local KPI’s for materials and purchasing.
    • Develop year-over-year cost reductions and countermeasures as appropriate.
    • Maintain and execute schedules to ensure the team’s resources are focused to the most critical business needs.
    • Build and maintain strong internal relationships, as well as with new and existing external supplier relationships.
    • Train and develop all purchasing agents which include best practices on internal and external supplier communication.
    • Achieve on-time delivery, quality, and cost targets.
    • Ensure commitment and support of ISO 9001:2015 Standards and Certification.
    • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
    • Keep a continuous check on stock levels to assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
    • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
    • Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with U.S. laws.
    • Work closely with other leaders and teammates (Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Sales and Marketing, Regulatory, and Process Engineering).
    • Support and help to implement the policies, procedures, systems and programs required to meet the department objectives and to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Lead team members in maintaining 5S standards to support a healthy, safe, clean and fun working environment.

    You’re a great fit for this position if this describes you;
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration.
    • 5 - 7 years of purchasing, materials and supply chain experience or business-related areas.
    • Demonstrated success in supply chain optimization, supplier development, contingency planning, cost reduction, quality improvement and MRP planning.
    • Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications Word, Excel, and understanding of ERP systems.
    • Excellent written communications skills, including the use of proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar to produce error-free copy, particularly composing letters, reports and documents used for decision-making.
    • Outstanding Oral communication skills including tact and diplomacy which would be utilized during conflict management and the development of relationships with internal and external contact.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects including, analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem-solving, decision making and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.
    • Able to handle light lifting of component parts and prototype assemblies if necessary.
    • Knowledge of Mass Transit Industry (Bus, Rail, Locomotive) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with AIAG, FMVSS, DOT, APTA, AAR, ASTM, and other related federal specifications is a plus.
    • Capable of handling sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
    • Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constraints while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
