Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. Position Summary:
The Health and Safety Specialist provides specialty support services promote a culture of health and safety in the organization. The Specialist works with retail operations, training, facilities, food service teams and other support operations, on strategies, initiatives and programs that address food, team member and customer safety concerns at to promote a culture of Health and Safety.
Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of processes and programs that continuously enhance the overall food safety ,quality and safety and health of EG America operations.
Work with store teams to help resolve store level food, workplace , customer health and safety risks.
Assist retail operations in the resolution of Health Department risk factors and compliance with the FDA Food Code.
Acts as liaison with federal, state, or local safety inspectors and acts to comply with their recommendations.
Execute specialized guidance documents that support department initiatives, programs and store-level health and safety needs.
Actively assist in the identification, mitigation and resolution of all food safety and quality related emergencies, including recall situations, which may affect the supply chain.
Provide guidance to retail store teams regarding proper pest control, sanitation, Good Retail Practices and other food safety related prevention programs.
Review store level health and safety challenges to identify potential root causes and determine solutions that will resolve each challenge.
Perform routine and emergency store level gap assesments and validation audits Follow-up on store team member and guest complaints
Work with store teams to prepare for government and 3rd party health and safety audits. Assist the store teams with corrective action determination and implementation.
Conduct on-site and classroom health and safety training and support the Training department with other health and safety related training initiatives.
Working Relationships: Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers; meeting their needs in a timely manner. Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Occupational Safety or related discipline or extensive (2 - 5 years) retail, grocery, QSR or restaurant experience in a food, workplace or customer health and safety role.
