The successful candidate will primarily work in the Public Swimming Pool, Body Art, and Campground programs and may provide support in other areas of Environmental Health. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable latitude for independent judgment and action. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspection and evaluation of water wells, public pools, and campgrounds for compliance with local and state regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or in a related field of science or engineering or other health related area in required.
- Must have thorough knowledge of principles and best practices of Environmental Health Sanitation and county and state Environmental Public Health laws, rules and regulations.
- Candidate is required to have strong communication and have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons encountered in connection with work activities.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and have access to transportation in the performance of job duties.
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of MS Office is required.
- Registration as a Sanitarian in the State of Michigan or NEHA Registered Environmental Health Specialist is preferred.
- Spanish language skills desired.
