Nature of Work
This position will be the Regional Sanitarian for the Public Health Service Mid Ohio Valley Region assisting local health departments in the assigned region. This role includes doing inspections related to OEHS permitted manufactured food facilities as assigned and may also assist with the inspection of other OEHS permits issued as assigned. The Regional Sanitarian will work closely with public stakeholders, governmental agencies, and private sector industries to address public environmental health needs, provide regulatory and technical support and respond to complaints related to public health violations and emergencies. The Regional Sanitarian promotes public health awareness, attends professional development grant required trainings, and provides 64 hours of on-the-job training to newly hired sanitarians in assigned region.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.
OR
Substitution: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a registered sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. ยง20-4-4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
