Job Title: Assistant Principal

DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists in the performance of the various leadership responsibilities which are attendant to the successful administration of the school unit. The specific duties which are assigned by the Principal and the decision-making authority related to such assignments are as established in the working relationship between the Principal and Assistant Principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and assumes leadership of the school in the absences of the principal

Assists with the school-wide practice of integrating Biblical principles into the core curriculum
-
Provides a strong presence and demonstrates effective leadership to faculty and students
-
Assists with academic student counseling
-
Relates to students with mutual respect while administering positive and effective policies
-
Serves on educational committees with students, parents and/or staff in order to continually improve learning experiences for students and enhance home to school communications

Communicates effectively and expeditiously with the multiple constituencies of the school

Assists with emergency situations in cooperation with staff and public safety agencies
-
Maintains a commitment to ongoing spiritual and professional growth in self and others

Demonstrates positive attitude toward job and remains flexible and innovative team builder

Oversees student and program scheduling and implements procedures which facilitate the achievement of program goals

Provides parent/guardian education opportunities

Plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive teaching and instruction program for pupils at the high school level.

Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of high school level pupils.

Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and educational trends and research findings pertaining to comprehensive high school programming.

Behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures.

EDUCATION

Master’s Degree
-
Valid Teaching Credential & Administrative Credential (highly preferred)
EXPERIENCE

Experience with effective Teaching/Clinical Supervision

Successful Instructional and/or leadership in a school setting

Knowledge of current practices in high school curriculum and organization

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
