    Job Description:

    The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations on the construction site of the new campus for located in Canoga Park, CA. This position involves close collaboration with school's staff, the Architect of Record (AOR), consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, and all required vendors. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful completion of this State of California-funded project, submitted to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) within the City of Los Angeles jurisdiction.

    Responsibilities:

    • Project Management and Oversight:
    • Coordinate and oversee all construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with the project plans, schedules, and Magnolia construction standards.
    • Serve as Magnolia’s primary on-site representative, working alongside other consultants, including Magnolia’s AOR and inspectors, for the administration of construction contracts as outlined in the general conditions for the project.
    • Pre-Construction and Planning:
    • Review and provide feedback on all current plans to align the project with budgetary constraints. Suggest design modifications and alternative construction methodologies, including modular/prefab construction.
    • Prepare detailed project budgets and schedules, and procure long-lead items on behalf of Magnolia.
    • Construction Phase Coordination:
    • Conduct and coordinate project pre-construction conferences with the School and a and school’s AOR.
    • Attend all regular job-site progress meetings, distribute minutes, and manage the communication of project status reports, documenting cost, schedule, quality, and other necessary details.
    • Implement and coordinate documentation controls and standard procedures for an efficient construction management process.
    • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure all construction practices comply with state, city, and local permits and regulations.
    • Conduct regular site inspections/audits to enforce safety policies and identify any potential risks or non-compliance issues.
    • Contract and Change Management:
    • Coordinate the receipt and review of the Contractor’s construction schedule and Schedule of Values.
    • Work with the school’s AOR to evaluate contractor change order proposals, negotiate costs and time extensions, and manage the documentation pertaining to change orders.
    • Operational Transition and Close-Out:
    • Assist in the preparation and submittal of the final project accounting and closeout reports.
    • Coordinate and schedule training sessions for Magnolia personnel to ensure a smooth transition upon project completion.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role, with extensive knowledge in managing large-scale construction projects, preferably in educational facilities.
    • Strong understanding of construction processes, including design, construction, and post-construction phases.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
    • Proficient in project management software and tools necessary for construction management.
    • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements of the City of Los Angeles and the State of California.
    • Experience in managing construction projects from inception to completion.
    • Proficiency in construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam.

    Strong knowledge of construction estimating and budgeting.

    • Familiarity with quality control processes in construction projects.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively coordinate project teams.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $104,000.00 - $124,800.00 per year
